We will sing to You forever
We will sing to You forever
We will sing to You forever
We will to You forever and a day
In the video I listed Psalm 89 as where it comes from. I want to take a deeper look into Psalm 89:1-52 but especially 1-18:
I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever;
with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever;
in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”
You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one;
I have sworn to David my servant:
I will establish your offspring forever,
and build your throne for all generations.’”
Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord,
your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones!
For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?
Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord,
a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy
ones,
and awesome above all who are around him?
O Lord God of hosts,
who is mighty as you are, O Lord,
with your faithfulness all around you?
You rule the raging of the sea;
when its waves rise, you still them.
You crushed Rahab like a carcass;
you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours;
the world and all that is in it, you have founded them.
The north and the south, you have created them;
Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name.
You have a mighty arm;
strong is your hand, high your right hand.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your
throne;
steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
Blessed are the people who know the festal shout,
who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face,
who exult in your name all the day
and in your righteousness are exalted.
For you are the glory of their strength;
by your favor our horn is exalted.
For our shield belongs to the Lord,
our king to the Holy One of Israel.
This starts with saying that I will sing forever. Just as it is used in the song. The rest of the chapter explores why.
If we go back to verse 6
For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?
Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord,
We can look at this as a reminder that there is nothing that can compare to the Lord. The biggest most powerful creature you can imagine is a spec compared to the power of our God.
Look again at verses 10 and 11
You crushed Rahab like a carcass;
you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours;
the world and all that is in it, you have founded them.
Now with this power that cannot be fathomed we see the enemies scattered and the claim made for the ownership of everything. Not one country or continent or even planet. Everything is His.
This brings about two emotions Fear and Peace.
The fear that I am one of those enemies; that I am on the wrong side. The fear of every wrong thing I have done. All of it grabbing onto me like a magnet stuck to the fridge. The fridge can never remove those magnets.
But there is peace for we are not alone and all we have to do is stop and believe. The payment has been made the outside force has removed those magnets and cleansed me of all dark splotches.
Jesus came and died just like every human but then He came back to life. He looked death square in the jaw and said ENOUGH.
We are saved through Him and He is not done in this world. He owns all of it. Everything will work out to His glory no matter how unlikely or unfathomable it might be.
