Amazing Grace

This week’s video was on This Is Amazing Grace. That makes this devotion fairly easy.

Let’s take a look at the chorus:

This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You've done for me

There are so many bible connections you can make throughout the chorus and the whole song. There was only one verse that I looked at twice in the video and that was John 15:13

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

That really is the amazing grace isn’t it? It’s that simple. We do things that tear us away from God. We do those things while trying to draw closer to Him. Look at Isaiah 64:6

We have all become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.
We all fade like a leaf,
and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

Our greatest acts are complete garbage, what does that make our bad actions?

Yet Christ, in His unfailing love, died one of the worst deaths possible as a substitute for us. This song hits all these point and is very well done. When you sing this song, remember what it means that He took our place. His Grace comes free to us and really does change everything.
