Dreading My Desires
Oh
No, I Went And Did It Again
Can't Seem To Break These Chains
That Bind Me To Sin
...
Been Dreading My Desires Since The Day I Was Born
When you read that did it connect with you?
Does this describe you?
When you go back and look at the parts of the verse I omitted you see that the song is really about a guy entering Hell. But that is not the point I want to draw on.
We all have things that we struggle with and it can often feel like we are drowning by our desires. We want so hard to break free from the vicious cycle this world seems to pull us back into. A fallen world is full of fallen people and temptations. Unfortunately, the easiest reaction to these things is to fall right into every single pitfall.
Thankfully there is more to the story. On our own there is a chasm we cannot cross, but someone else has built a bridge. He stretched out his arms and was buried in a grave but out of that grave came a bridge to be with our Creator.
You don’t have to wait for hell to be shown that someone else can break the chains that bind you to sin.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21
