Is the party now or is it to come?

In this week’s video we looked at a two songs about different parties. One of those songs talked about dancing and one did not. There are the songs that come to my mind about dancing from Christian artists that I want to take a look at. Changes are pretty good you have not heard these songs before.

The Victory Dance by Theocracy

Dancing on the Head of the Serpent by Jerusalem

Dancing in Heaven by Whitecross.

We also see Psalms list dancing as part of the party we should be having.

Psalms 149
Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song,
    his praise in the assembly of the godly!
Let Israel be glad in his Maker;
    let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!
Let them praise his name with dancing,
    making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!
For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
    he adorns the humble with salvation.
Let the godly exult in glory;
    let them sing for joy on their beds.
Let the high praises of God be in their throats
    and two-edged swords in their hands,
to execute vengeance on the nations
    and punishments on the peoples,
to bind their kings with chains
    and their nobles with fetters of iron,
to execute on them the judgment written!
    This is honor for all his godly ones.
Praise the Lord!

Let’s take a look at a portion of The Victory Dance
Eternal victory
Altar flames rising, burning higher
And straight through the fire
I'm dancing the victory dance
This song at it’s core is about sharing the good news with other. This idea is conveyed with the eternal victory that we get celebrate with dance.

1 Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Dancing on the Head of the Serpent is a reflection on Satans power in the world and how we can react.
He sits on a throne with an arrogant smile thinking he's gonna stay there forever
But the King of the Saints is mounting His steps there is a judgement to settle
And in a short moment his face turns surprised before he is thrown to the ground
That's alright, that's alright
Dancing on the head of the serpent
Dancing on the head of the serpent
Satan has power and I have no doubt he is effecting a great many things on this earth. We can know he has been overcome and we can dance because the battle is already won.

1 John 5:4
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

Dancing in Heaven once again reflects on the eternal dance that awaits us.
Dancin' in Heaven
The angels and the sons of men
Will party in God's presence then
Dancin' in Heaven
Like David did in days of old
Upon the rock the does not roll

When the Son of Man comes for us
We'll join the angels in this chorus
We will learn what it is to praise Him
We'll dance unto the Lord

This one actually lists the party and not just the dancing. Dancing can be used to praise God, as long as those are the intentions.

2 Samuel 6:14
And David danced before the Lord with all his might. And David was wearing a linen ephod.

Praise God in whatever way suits you. He is worthy of praise for his victory over death.

Psalm 150
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
    praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
    praise him according to his excellent greatness!

Praise him with trumpet sound;
    praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
    praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
    praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
