What is it that you seek after?
If you are anything like me, you know how you want to answer those questions but in reality we fall short of those answers. I have verses from two songs that reflect these ideas. The first is All I Want by The Letter Black, this one is song from God’s perspective and is a cry to believe in Him.
You take advantage of me
Cause I won't turn you down
Once you get what you want
You push me to the side
Why do you try to hurt me
It's only hurting you
I've always been right here waiting
It is so easy to get caught up in this world and the things we do right. Or at least what we think we do right. Really, we are ungrateful for the gifts from above. Gifts that are always there. We also see in this language that it hurts God when we do these things.
Genesis 6:5-7
The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every
intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord
regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.
So the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the
land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am
sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes
of the Lord.
Thankfully, Noah found favor in the eyes of God and more so God promised to never destroy every living creature again. Look at this verse from Seek by GFM.
What if God sits at the table
And we acted like He did not exist
But in times of trouble
We expect Him to assist
Be honest with yourself. When do you pray the most? It is easy to fall into these traps and even justify them.
Psalm 50:15
and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.
1 Chronicles 16:11
Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and
all these things will be added to you.
We are promised great blessing. We need to be seeking and believing in Jesus at all times, not just the troubling ones.
Here are the opening lines from the song Water Into Wine by Stryper.
If He were here today, what would we say?
Would we repeat the past, or let Him lead the way
Jesus loves you, He died the most painful death to defeat death for all of us. He will never have to do that again but if He did, He would do it again without hesitation. That leaves one question. Will we live our lives for Him?
