Sentimental Feeling

You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear

Would you wear a Christmas wreath as a crown?
What if it didn’t have any leaves?
What if it was made from thorny vines?

And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. – Mark 15:17

Birth is the start, but there is more to the story of our King. Even now we are only in the middle of the story, with so much to come. Part of that is indeed death.

Ecclesiastes 12:7
and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

The Joy comes when you remember death is not the end.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23

Last week I released a video on the song Shy Away and I talked about the idea that you can use something other than words to say I love you. To me this brings to mind the song More than Words by Extreme. So let’s take a look at that. Verse 1 Saying "I love you" Is not the words I want to hear from you It's not that I want you Not to say, but if you only knew How easy it would be to show me how you feel More than words is all you have to do to make it real Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me 'Cause I'd already know This verse does feel a little disconnected but overall the point is made. The singer desires to feel the love and saying it is fine but actions speak a little louder than words. I personally believe you should think about anything before you do it. If you find yourself doing it simply because someone told you to then that is not good enough. I also believe that you shouldn’t ask anyone to do anything without explaining why to them. You are free to do what you want but let’s look at some reason that singing should not be simply repeating other things. First, let’s define singing. Dictionary.com gives us the definition as a verb of to utter words or sounds in succession with musical modulations of the voice; vocalize melodically. I personally like the definition given in The Music Man where singing is simply defined as sustained talking. Are you held responsible for the words you say? Have you ever said something and then regretted it? If singing is simply talking then the same concepts apply. Words have meaning and consequences.
