More Doubt

This week I released a short about magnetism and that it is a little more complex then simply pulling things together. This was to go along with the song Magnetic from Newsboys. Although, I think we can do better then a song based on a children’s Sunday school lesson, this song does contain a very honest pre-chorus. Some days I break I lose my way More doubt than faith The only way to make this more honest would be changing it to Everyday I break. Why is it so easy to have more doubt then faith? Is faith so hard to have, we have faith in all sorts of things, we have faith that our employers will pay us, the food that our server is giving us is properly cooked and won’t cause issues, in the computer I am using to post this. We almost never doubt these things and yet we have experienced them all fail at different times. Yet the one thing that has never let us down we can’t keep faith in. Luke 1:37 (NIV) For no word from God will ever fail. It is time to keep our faith ...

Are you comfortable?

Image
Welcome to the New Year! We are just about a week in. How is it treating you? Are you comfortable? Happy with where things are and where they are going? Take a look at the chorus from the song Foreigner by Ledger. I, I am a foreigner Got a fire in my soul, never giving up And I know I don't belong right here I know I don't belong right here Fight till I make it home But keep my eyes to the skies even if I don't And I know I don't belong right here I know I don't belong right here We are only visitors here, not called to set our residence, but to bring others home with us. James 4:14 What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Our home is being prepared and one day we will be there together. We do not belong here, but we can make an impact. All it takes is sharing this promise that home is better than we can imagine. Should we be comfortable in this place? Should we be pushing ourselves to live like this is ...

Sentimental Feeling

Image
You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. – Luke 2:7 Would you wear a Christmas wreath as a crown? What if it didn’t have any leaves? What if it was made from thorny vines? And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. – Mark 15:17 Birth is the start, but there is more to the story of our King. Even now we are only in the middle of the story, with so much to come. Part of that is indeed death. Ecclesiastes 12:7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. The Joy comes when you remember death is not the end. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23

Death is Running

Image
This week’s video looked at a condensed version of O Come, OCome, Emmanuel . You can check that out here . One thing that can really add power to a song is the proper use of imagery. When done well these not only put images in your head but also have a meaningful connection. We see this in O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. Disperse the gloomy clouds of night And death’s dark shadows put to flight This clearly gives us the image of the clouds and the shadows being sent away. The real connection is death running away. Think about that for a second, death running away. This is not only what happened at Jesus’ birth and resurrection, but when Jesus returns death will be sprinting away. Isaiah 9:2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. Matthew 24:30 Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds ...
